Hello!

March 1, 2026

Greetings and salutations! Welcome to Lookee Cookie, the platform where you can share your experiences in baking! I’m your host, Romulun Harris.

I’ve loved baking since I was three years old. Every time my mom let me watch as she made those delicious goodies, I always wanted to help her out. But she would always tell me, “Don’t worry sweetie, I’ve got this.” But she was nice enough to let me eat the leftover dough or batter!

However, one day during second grade, Mom typed up a special packet for me to read. As I read through the packet, a lot of it was stuff to teach me about life. But on the bottom of the second to last page, there was a statement telling me that the last page had a list of instructions for me to follow carefully. And when I got to the final page, a big surprise awaited me—it was a recipe for chocolate chip cookies!

I got started without delay and, following the directions, mixed in the ingredients needed for the cookies. Ingredient after ingredient, everything was coming together. Once the batter was complete, I separated it into about four-dozen tablespoon-sized balls.

It took around 20 minutes for each batch of a dozen to cook.  When the cookies were all done, they looked good; but the real test came in the taste. When Mom, Dad, my sister, and myself tasted the cookies, they were delicious!

My first successful baking experience led me to baking other types of cookies, including my very favorite, oatmeal raisin. I also baked brownies, cakes, and much more.

I still love baking today as it allows me to experience new recipes that I’ve never tried out before. For those of you who love baking, challenge yourselves. Use recipes, old and new. Heck, even try mixing recipes, and who knows? You might come up with a new dessert yourself.

Here are some delicious oatmeal raisin cookies that I baked a couple of days ago!
